Attention, Saskatchewan baseball
fans! Welcome to the unofficial booster club and fan site devoted
to the Saskatchewan Silver Sox, an independent professional baseball team
currently a member of the Arizona Winter League, an instruction program
run by the Golden Baseball League. It is a team/franchise fans would like
to see join the Golden Baseball League offically as an expansion team.
The team has absorbed the identity and team history of the former Reno
Silver Sox franchise that played their GBL home games at William Peccole
Park at the University of Nevada Reno from 2006 to 2008 and won a GBL
Championship in their inaugural season in 2006.
The brand, colours and uniforms
were given to the new AWL team that represents Saskatchewan and currently
play all of the home games and some "away" games at Desert Sun Stadium
in Yuma, Arizona (home of the GBL's Yuma Scorpions). This past season,
an average 1,200 fans vacationing from Saskatchewan travelled to show
incredible support for their new team and have expressed hope and excitement
over the possibility of bringing this team to the GBL and play at either
Cairns Field in Saskatoon or Currie Field in Regina, which both currently
play host to Western Major Baseball League (collegiate woodbat)
teams.
This site was set up as a way to
provide information about the team, the history of the "Silver Sox" brand,
links to friends of the team, up-to-the-minute scores and statistics during
actual games during the AWL season, a chance to respond to fellow in our
exclusive forum/message board (coming soon), a petition drive to
help get the Silver Sox to play in either Saskatoon or Regina and to help get
the word out that Saskatchewan does have a professional baseball team
that represents the whole province and could soon become a part of the
Golden Baseball League in the future, may as early as 2010. The site is
currently under construction and we are trying to gather as much information
about the team as we can. But we do invite everyone to check out the site
and would like to encourage anyone who would like to start an OFFICIAL

Saskatchewan Silver Sox
ends second season in AWL; still hopes of GBL future! (03/12/2009):
The second season of the Saskatchewan Silver Sox ended in the Arizona Winter
League finishing in second place in the Canadian Division behind eventual
league champions the Calgary Vipers. However, noise has died down quite
a bit about their future plans for joining the Golden Baseball League. With
no home filed to speak of in Saskatoon, the team will remain in the AWL for the
time being. If you would like to learn about what to do to make the Silver Sox
