John Googins - Original Host/Segment Producer
John Googins has co-hosted In Focus since the show's inception
in 1995, with the exception of the second show. He is one of the co-founders
of Action Video Entertainment in 1992 along with John McCarthy and Bill
Janis. He was known as the voice of Siskiyou County television for nearly
20 years and handled sports play-by-play duties for 12 of those years
along with various colleagues from McCarthy and Mike Summers to radio voices
such as Rick Martin and George Tharalson. He retired from sports commentating
in 2005. He volunteers from time to time working with Mountain Community
Television MCTV 15 and will soon be hosting a new program devoted to the
newspaper game of Sudoku.
Googins has been penciled in to once again be co-host of In Focus
while, at the same time, be segment producer from time to time.
Alan Mainwaring - "Siskiyou Portraits" (Tentative)
Alan Mainwaring is slated to return to In Focus as the producer
of the segment "Siskiyou Portraits", a series of short documentaries that
reflect the creativity of local artists throughout Siskiyou County.
His past profiles have included Rowena Kryder, Tom O'Hara and Mary Saint
Marie. He returns with more new profiles in the coming months.
Like Summers and Googins, Alan attended the College
of the Siskiyous broadcast communications class, where they all met. He
also played a role behind the scenes in the production of the college's
video magazine Video Feedback in 1991-1992, which was the prelude
to In Focus.
John Cumming - "Geek Central" (Tentative)
John Cumming is a special contributor to In Focus: Siskiyou
Magazine. He currently works as technical director at Mountain
Community Television Channel 15, operated out of the College of the
Siskiyous television studio in Weed.
A computer junkie, Cumming hosts a show called Geek Central on MCTV
15. It's a program to help computer owners understand the basics and
fundamentals of how to use a computer and guides viewers through what
to do if they encounter problems with their computers.
He also designed and animated the logo for In Focus as well
as several MCTV 15 projects and projects of his own. He is originally
from Scotland, but now lives somewhere deep in Siskiyou County.
