Michael S. Summers - Owner/Executive Producer
Mike Summers is the current owner and executive producer of Action
Video Entertainment. He handles all the day-to-day operations of the
company and has been with A.V.E. since 1994. He began his broadcasting
career in high school as a freshman at Weed High school working as
reporter for KWSD-AM 620 in Mt. Shasta (now KMJC-AM) from 1987 to 1988.
He wouldn't return to broadcasting until 1991 when he began attending
broadcast classes at College of the Siskiyous. It was where he met
instructor Ray Berry, future A.V.E. founders John Googins and John McCarthy
and several other talented indidviduals. He made his TV debut in 1991 as
a contestant for KRCR-TV's "Sportscaster For A Day" contest, where he placed
fifth out of over 100 entries. He was segment producer on two episodes
of Video Feedback, C.O.S.'s first attempt at a video magazine, hosting
a blooper segment. That show aired on then-King Videocable Channel 3 in
Mount Shasta.
He would not return to TV until three years later in 1994 filling
in a play-by-play commentator for televised high school sports and would
later take over operations in what would eventually become AVE Sports,
expanding coverage into other parts of the county and to College of the
Siskiyous and Shasta College in the coming years. He then went on to
intern at KRCR-TV in Redding in the fall of 1995 helping sportscasters
Mike Mangas (now news anchor there) and Rich Eisen (now of NFL Network).
After his internship ended at KRCR, he was hired as board operator at
KMJC-AM for the summer of 1996. The next year in 1997, he
was hired as program director and on-air talent at KWHO-FM 102.3 (now
KCWH-FM) and became a beloved personality right off the bat, but was fired
by new ownership after four and a half years at the station. He was
fortunate to have been hired by Northland Cable Television (while at KWHO)
and was there for four and a half years.
Then, in 2005, he acquired
Action Video Entertainment from longtime owner and friend John Googins and
was also hired by KCVU-TV FOX 30 (now KCVU-DT FOX 20), KRVU-TV UPN 21 (now
a My Network TV affiliate) and KUCO-TV Univision 27 in Chico as master
control operator.
Summers also served as co-host and segment producer of In Focus:
Siskiyou Magazine and now, as executive producer, has plans to relaunch
the show with Googins returning as co-host and a new co-host to be named
later. Googins often refers to Summers as "the hardest-working man in
Siskiyou County show business" because of his dedication and drive in
the broadcast industry.
He is a 1990 graduate of McCloud High School and 2005 graduate of
College of the Siskiyous. No one knows, even he doesn't know,
what the future holds. But you can rest assured, the future of A.V.E.
looks bright with Mike Summers at the helm.
John Googins - Co-Founder
John Googins is co-founder of Action Video Entertainment. The company,
founded in 1992 along with fellow C.O.S. students John McCarthy and Bill Janis,
has been known as the cornerstone of Siskiyou County video production.
Googins took over sole ownership in 1997.
Googins is best known as the "voice of Siskiyou County television"
for nearly 20 years, having called high school and College of the Siskiyous
sports for 12 of those years. He's also known for being the co-host of
In Focus: Siskiyou Magazine in four of the five episodes that
aired between 1995 and 1996. He made his TV debut on the C.O.S. video
magazine Video Feedback as segment producer of "The GoogCam" in
the spring of 1992. He would go on the call high school and college sports
broadcasts for what would become AVE Sports for 12 years and
was seen on various television stations from Northland Cable Television's
Channel 3 all the way down to Redding's broadcast stations. He retired from
sports play-by-play in 2005 and appears on TV occasionally on MCTV
15.
As of January 2009, John is touted to return as co-host of In Focus:
Siskiyou Magazine, still produced by Action Video Entertainment, and
will soon host an MCTV 15 show devoted to the game of Sudoku. He still
lives in Mt. Shasta with his dog Hoppy and is still recognized in
the area today.
John Cumming - Contributor

He currently works as technical director at Mountain Community Television
Channel 15, operated out of the College of the Siskiyous television

A computer junkie, Cumming hosts a show called Geek Central on
MCTV 15. It's a program to help computer owners understand the basics
and fundamentals of how to use a computer and guides viewers through what
to do if they encounter problems with their computers.

Magazine as well as several MCTV 15 projects and projects of his own.
He is originally from Scotland, but now lives somewhere deep in Siskiyou
