Mike appears in this
week's Mount Shasta Herald, Weed Press and Dunsmuir News! (02/05/2010):
 Mike
Summers was recently featured in an article in the South Siskiyou
County Local Newspapers which chronicles his recognition for Employee of the
Year at Sainte Television Group in Chico. The newspaper group, which has the
Mount Shasta Herald, Weed Press and Dunsmuir News, printed the story that
appeared in the February 3rd edition. The interview, edited by Steve Gerace,
shows Mike's interview as well as comments made by his boss, FOX 20/MyTV NorCal
general manager Doug Holroyd, and mentions of Mike's astonishing broadcast
career that spans nearly a quarter of a century.
"When I found out I was in
the paper in an email from an old friend Michele (Cloutier of KCWH Radio and
formerly of KZRO Z100 FM), I was very surprised and excited," says Mike. "I had
to ask my mom just to be sure. She told me she saw the article the previous
night, but she told me when she got into work. Who would've guessed I had that
much of an impact? I wouldn't've even guessed it."

Old AVE Sports
being transferred to DVD, may be broadcast online! (02/04/2010):
 From
Mike Summers: "After a couple of years of waiting, I have finally
decided to get to work on transferring all of my old Action Video Entertainment
Sports television broadcast videos onto DVD's. This is going to cut down
on some of the clutter I have and will be made available via email currently.
If you would like to shoot me an email and request which game I may have, you
can email the AVE email at avetvnet@gmail.com. I just started the
transferring a few weeks ago and have a LONG way to go, so some orders may take
a while to get to. I have thought about returning to cover games, but my work
schedule will not accommodate that at the moment. However, I am making plans
to possibly return to cover the annual Bob Busch memorial Lions All-Star
Baseball Game for the first time in five years. More details of that to
come.
"I have made a mistake
previously reporting that AVE Sports had broadcast over 700 games. The
approximate number is actually over 1,000!!! Yes... ONE THOUSAND!!! This counts
games that are no longer in existence done by John McCarthy and John Googins,
long before I came to AVE. So you now know I have over 1,000 programs being
transferred to DVD.
"I have also been contemplating
broadcasting select games on AVE on MySpace Video, but I haven't quite decided
yet. I will keep you posted."

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
"Out with '2000-whine' and in with 2010!" (01/01/2010): Though the
country and the world had a bad year in 2009, Mike Summers' year has been
one of trials and triumph. Helping to build a future of professional
baseball's return to Southern Oregon in a year and a half, meeting different
people in person and on social networking sites, finding true love and earning
the honor of 2009 Sainte Television Group Employee of the Year. Now with
2009 over (and good riddance), he looks forward to a grand 2010.
MikeSummers.org wishes all
a very Happy (and Safe) New Year!
Sainte Television's
Employee of the Year for 2009! (12/25/2009):
 Mike recently
received the 2009 Sainte Television Group Employee of the Year in Chico
and the company's Christmas party at Johnnie's Restaurant. This is one
of the station's highest honors and is based on hard work and dedication
to keep the station running. So why has it taken so long for this to
be posted?
"I wanted to surprise
my family at Christmas time," he explains. "The award was a shock to me.
I've dreamed about it, but really didn't think I would get it. Now I have
something to hang my hat on, figuratively, of course."
The criteria for the
award is being kept under wraps at his request and the request of his bosses.
But he credits a bunch of people for where he's at.
"I give many blessings to
God, first of all. But of course, my family, my church, my wonderful girlfriend
Melinda and to all of my co-workers at the station. This award is for all of
them because they have supported me greatly whether I knew it or not. My
co-workers are who I share this with because they strive to be the best in
their field. Thank you all!"
Sainte Television Group
owns several television stations in Chico, Eureka, Medford and Modesto. Primary
stations in Chico are KCVU-DT FOX 20, MyTV NorCal (KRVU-LD 21/KEMY-LD 33) and
KUCO-LP Univision 27. Primary station in Medford is KFBI-LP My 48. (Both MyTV
NorCal and KFBI are My Network TV affiliates.)
Congratulations to Mike
for this wonderful accomplishment!
Michael Porter is back,
JACK!!!! (10/25/2009):
After about two months off, former WWE ring
announcer Michael Porter returned to the virtual airwave on Blog Talk Radio
and his website has finally been updated and is currently being renovated.
Porter left the air due to health, financial and personal problems. But
thanks to the help from friends and fans, he has returned and has his longtime
friend Mike says, "Michael Porter's got his pump back, jack! Whatcha gonna do,
brother?!?"

Congratulations to Rick Martin
for recent radio station acquistion! (10/12/2009)
 Mike Summers has sent his
congratulations to longtime friend and former radio colleague Rick Martin (real
name: Martin Howell) for his recent purchase of Mt. Shasta radio station KCWH-FM
102.3. The station was once known as KWHO-FM, where Mike once worked as program
director and on-air talent from 1997 to 2001. Following the acquistion of KWHO
by Four Rivers Broadcasting in 2001, the station changed its call letters to
KNTK-FM and then to KCWH after they were purchased by Jamison-Wolf Broadcasting
last year. The station's old sister station KSYC remains Jamison-Wolf property.
"I found out about the
purchase from Doug LaMalfa last week," says Summers, who now works at Sainte
Television Group in Chico. "I had absolutely no idea this happened. I mean,
there was talk about it which I keep quiet publicly about, but when I heard
about what Rick did, I was pleasantly surprised. When I called him to congratulate
him, I joked, 'I guess I've been gone for too long.'"
Martin has worked in radio
in the Mt. Shasta area for over 20 years, having worked for nine different general
managers. His radio audio has been utilized on several occasions for Action Video
Entertainment-produced high school and College of the Siskiyous sports television
broadcasts on Northland Cable Television Channel 3 in Mt. Shasta. Despite being
essentially fired by former owners Four Rivers Broadcasting, Mike has been friends
with Rick for over 10 years. More on this story at Mt.
Shasta News website.
